Dear Friends,
As we wrap up what has been a challenging 2021 for everyone, Woodlawn Cemetery included, we send this appeal letter seeking your support and encourage you to help keep our mission alive as we move forward into the coming year and beyond.

Woodlawn Cemetery is a 501 c 13 non-profit organization which continues to serve families in Winona and surrounding areas. The cemetery is considered one of the historic landscape pillars of our community going back to 1862. Woodlawn originated as a result of some spirited citizens of Winona coming together to plan, organize, raise money and develop Woodlawn Cemetery.

Woodlawn Cemetery is a non-denominational cemetery with over 22,000 interments in the cemetery grounds. Our historic cemetery allows anyone to be buried here as it is not affiliated with any church organizations. You might have a family member or know someone who has been interred at Woodlawn Cemetery.

The cost of maintaining and improving the cemetery grounds, in which you have been accustom to over the years, requires ongoing financial support to keep the cemetery operating. Cemeteries are just like any other non-profit; they need to raise money in order to operate. Woodlawn Cemetery requires ongoing fundraising revenue, in addition to revenue from services, to maintain and improve the 55+ acres of cemetery grounds. Going into calendar year of 2022, Woodlawn Cemetery needs your help to raise enough funds to maintain the cemetery on an ongoing basis. 2020-21 was a difficult year with rebuilding after a tornado came through the cemetery grounds late last fall and the financial hit caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

We are requesting your support by donating annually to increase and maintain our operations budget to keep our mission going in the right direction. I am confident you feel as strongly as I do about the importance of preserving one of the most beautiful cemeteries in Minnesota.
